ESIM's Scientific Foundation
Integrative medicine – as defined by the World Health Organization – combines evidence-informed conventional care with traditional, complementary, and integrative (TCIM) approaches. It places the person at the center of care, fosters a therapeutic relationship between professionals and patients, and encourages coordinated, whole-person strategies to achieve health, well-being, and quality of life.

Young ESIM (yESIM) is the early-career platform of the European Society of Integrative Medicine. It supports emerging clinicians, researchers, and health professionals committed to advancing evidence-based integrative medicine.

ECIM — European Congress of Integrative Medicine
ECIM is Europe’s foremost forum of integrative, traditional, and complementary medicine, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and policymakers committed to advancing evidence-informed healthcare. Convened annually under the scientific auspices of ESIM. The congress is hosted each year in a different European country in partnership with leading universities, research institutes, and professional bodies, reflecting ESIM’s commitment to academic excellence, institutional collaboration, and broad European representation.

The ESIM Awards honour outstanding contributions to the advancement of integrative medicine in Europe and internationally. They recognise researchers, clinicians, and emerging leaders whose work strengthens scientific evidence, clinical innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field.
Presented in connection with the European Congress for Integrative Medicine (ECIM), the awards highlight achievements that advance research, clinical practice, and the responsible integration of complementary and traditional approaches within healthcare systems.
Since 2012, the European Society for Integrative Medicine has presented this award to recognise excellence in the field.
